Prenatal Support
After you and I meet and you decide to hire me, you will receive two- two hour prenatal visits. The first one will preferably be with you at a prenatal appointment with your care provider. It is important that your birth team touch base and are familiar with each other before your labor. We can go over your birth plan at this visit and discuss any concerns you may have about labor. The second one will be in your home, preferably with both partners present. If you still need help with your birth plan then we will build one together. We will go over pain management techniques with the robozo and birth ball, and discuss using essential oils and massage techniques as well. If you are interested I will bring baby carriers, cloth diapers, and breast feeding information for you to experience hands on. You will also be able to contact me by phone or email & have full access to my lending library.
Birth
The day that you start labor you will have me by your side whenever you feel is necessary, until you have delivered the placenta. I will provide physical, emotional, and mental support for you and your partner. I will be there to answer any questions you may have about treatments and procedures. I will stay about two hours postpartum, and help you with initiating breastfeeding. If you have chosen to have your placenta encapsulated I will be sure to transport it to my home safely.
Postpartum Visits
I will see you twice in your home following your birth. The first at one week and the second at four weeks. At one week I will be happy to bring over a meal, help with some light cleaning, or even watch the baby while you take a shower! No one can really prepare us for that first month after having a baby, and sometimes you need a little extra support. We will also see how well breastfeeding is going, and I will help you troubleshoot any glitches you may be having. If I encapsulated your placenta I will bring your pills as well. Our final visit will be at four weeks, and we will discuss any questions you may have about your birth, postpartum depression, or general question you may have. At that point, if you are having issues beyond my level of expertise I will be happy to provide you with a professional reference on where to go from there.
